HOW TO SUBMIT A WINE

Winery: Barnard Griffin Winery
Wine: 2003 Rosé of Sangiovese
Region: Columbia Valley, WA
Price: $11.00

Industry Comments:
This exotic, tropical fruit packed Rosé is delightfully dry on the palette. Flavors of strawberry and pomegranate dance all the way through to the refreshing finish.

Winery: Columbia Crest
Wine: 2003 Chardonnay - Grand Estates
Region: Columbia Valley, WA
Price: $11.00

Industry Comments:
An enticing bouquet of apple, melon and caramel is reborn on the palate where it is balanced enticingly with sweet oak flavors. This Washington Chardonnay's finish is seductive and lingering.

Winery: Columbia Winery
Wine: 2001 Merlot
Region: Woodinville, WA
Price: $15.00

Industry Comments:
David Lake and his team of winemakers have a big winner on their hands with this large-production, nicely priced red that shows off everything good about Washington Merlot. It opens with delicious aromas of bright red fruit and hints of vanilla and oak. Its juicy, upfront flavors are balanced with modest tannins, good acidity and light herbal notes.

Winery: Red Diamond Winery
Wine: 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon
Region: Columbia & Walla Walla Valley, WA
Price: $10.99

Industry Comments:
Give me a slice of crusty bread, some extra virgin olive oil, a chunk of parmesan cheese and a bottle of this cab – and I’m good for a heavenly afternoon. This Cabernet ?aunts a spicy nose with some tobacco and cherry aromas. Intense, rich red fruits on the palate are complimented with a slight toasty note on the €nish

Winery: Hoodsport Winery
Wine: 2003 Cabernet Merlot - Orca Series
Region: Columbia Valley, WA
Price: $12.99

Industry Comments:
A new marketing strategy includes an eye-catching label, a killer whale painted by a British Columbia tribal member. And what’s inside, especially at the price, makes for a killer cab. All sorts of rich brambleberries, tobacco and toast are accessible in the aromas, with black currants, juicy black cherries and boysenberries held up by good tannin management and nice acidity. Black peppercorns in the finish makes this wine a fine foil for charbroiled steak.

Winery: Stevens Winery
Wine: 2004 Sauvignon Blanc
Region: Yakima Valley, WA
Price: $14.00

Industry Comments:
Greater zing up front and length in the finish. Once again, the wine has no residual sugar and is bone dry which allows it to finish crisp and clean.

Winery: Covey Run
Wine: 2003 Syrah
Region: Columbia Valley, WA
Price: $9.00

Industry Comments:
Lighter and less extracted than most Syrahs, but generous with its blueberry, currant and gently earthy aromas and flavors, persisting nicely on the open finish.

Winery: Saviah Cellars
Wine: 2003 The Jack
Region: Columbia Valley, WA
Price: $15.00

Industry Comments:
This wine has aromas of black cherries, raspberries, plum and spices with a touch of oak. The layers of silky red and black fruit are framed with seamless tannins and a long beautiful finish.

Winery: Columbia Crest
Wine: 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon - Grand Estates
Region: Columbia Valley, WA
Price: $12.00

Industry Comments:
A medium-bodied wine with supple tannins that is packed with intense black cherry, cocoa and smoke. Complex, rich and aromatic, this stylish wine offers balance and finesse from start to finish.

Winery: Gordon Brothers Winery
Wine: 2002 Kamiak - Red Wine
Region: Pasco, WA
Price: $10.00

Industry Comments:
Big, juicy and delicious Cab/Merlot blend at a great price. Quite a find, it has black cherry and plum flavors with attractive hints of vanilla and toasty oak.

Winery: Snoqualmie Vineyards
Wine: 2004 Winemaker's Select Riesling
Region: Prosser, WA
Price: $7.00

Industry Comments:
Sweet and penetrating, with surprisingly deep and protracted flavors of candied orange peel, lemon peel and grapefruit. Very nice.

Winery: Cline Cellars
Wine: 2003 Red Truck - Red Table Wine
Region: Sonoma, California
Price: $12.00

Industry Comments:
A blend of Syrah with Petite Sirah and Cabernet Franc and a bit of Merlot to give this wine its delicious dark berry and licorice flavors.

Winery: Columbia Winery
Wine: 2002 Syrah
Region: Woodinville, WA
Price: $10.00

Industry Comments:
Very deep ruby with purple rim. Charming red plum and berry fruit with notes of smoked meat, tar and a touch of oak. A big mouthful of smooth, ripe and sweet fruit, balanced ripe tannins and good underlying acidity. A balanced wine that is delightful now and could age five to seven years in the cellar.

Winery: Michael Pozzan Winery
Wine: 2002 Annabella Cabernet Sauvignon
Region: Napa Valley, CA
Price: $12.00

Industry Comments:
Bright, rich and centered on a core of black cherry, plum and currant. Has good depth and complexity, finishing with a hing of mint. A long, intricate aftertaste with mild tannins. The texture is supple and polished. Would pair wuite well with prime rib or leg of lamb.
