HOW TO SUBMIT A WINE

Winery: Syncline Wine Cellars
Location: Lyle, WA
Wine: 2004 Syrah Milbrandt Vineyards
Region: Columbia Valley
Price: $22.00

Awards/Accolades:
93 points - Wine Enthusiast
89 points - Wine Spectator

Industry Comments:
A superb follow-up to the winery’s 2003 Milbrandt, it’s the same 40/60 blend from Clifton and Sundance, both located in Washington’s new Wahluke Slope AVA. A penetrating nose of cherries, violets, blueberries and black olives leads into a wine that masks its power with finesse. Licorice, tar and smoke wrap around the bright raspberry fruit core, with just a whiff of white pepper. Great winemaking, and a price point more wineries should emulate.

Winery: Five Star Cellars
Location: Walla Walla, WA
Wine: 2004 Syrah
Region: Columbia Valley
Price: $28.00

Awards/Accolades:
92 points - Wine Spectator

Industry Comments:
Ripe and zingy. Offers a joyous mouthful of blackberry, cherry and peppery floral flavors that keep on going through the long, harmonious finish.

Winery: Fidelitas
Location: Benton City, WA
Wine: 2003 Optu Red Wine
Region: Columbia Valley
Price: $40.00

Awards/Accolades:
90 points - Wine Spectator

Industry Comments:
Ripe and supple, with a peppery, licorice-scented overlay to the generous currant and plum flavors. Concentrated and spicy through the well-modulated finish. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc.

Winery: Chateau Ste. Michelle
Location: Woodinville, WA
Wine: 2004 Canoe Ridge Estate Chardonnay
Region: Columbia Valley
Price: $20.00

Awards/Accolades:
92 points - Wine Spectator
90 points - Wine Advocate

Industry Comments:
This sings with pear, grapefruit and peach aromas and flavors on a lithe frame, with subdued oak notes. The texture is attractive, polished and refined.

Winery: Canon De Sol
Location: Benton City, WA
Wine: 2002 Red Meritage
Region: Columbia, Valley
Price: $28.00

Awards/Accolades:
"A quality drinking red!" - WineCOW

Industry Comments:
This unique Meritage Red Blend is 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Malbec, 14% Cabernet Franc and 8% Merlot, from hand-selected vineyards in the Columbia Valley. The Meritage Association identifies hand-crafted wines blended from the taditional "noble" Bordeaux varietals.

Winery: Hogue
Location: Prosser, WA
Wine: Reserve Merlot
Region: Columbia, Valley
Price: $30.00

Awards/Accolades:
90 Points - Wine Spectator

Industry Comments:
Hogue Reserve Merlot is made from grapes grown predominantly in the Yakima Valley and Tri-Cities regions of Washington's Columbia Valley. Some fruit from the Walla Walla Valley’s Seven Hills Vineyard was also blended in for additional complexity. This Reserve Merlot epitomizes Washington Merlot: earth, spice, leather and black olive aromas complemented by soft oak and a meaty note. Flavors are of dark chocolate and cream, intense raspberry fruit and herbal mint spice. It has great structure and mature tannins, with the roundness and elegance to age.

Winery: Willis Hall
Location: Marysville, WA
Wine: 2005 Viognier
Region: Yakima Valley, Snipes Canyon Ranch
Price: $20.00

Awards/Accolades:
"This is one delicious Viognier" - WineCOW

Industry Comments:
It’s full body and mouth-feel, along with it’s intense flavors of tropical fruit, mangoes, pears, and peaches, make it the perfect wine to pair with salads, sliced fruits, a variety of cheeses, and many hors d’oeuvres, as well as moderately seasoned fish, fowl, or vegetable entrées. It also serves as a good aperitif. Serve this wine chilled, but not cold, for best flavors. Santé!

Winery: Di Stefano
Location: Woodinville, WA
Wine: 2003 Meritage Red
Region: Columbia Valley
Price: $24.00

Awards/Accolades:
90 Points - Wine Spectator

Industry Comments:
Supple and generous, a lithe wine with lovely ripe currant and blackberry flavors, shaded with hints of tobacco and rose petal. It is impressive for its elegance and restraint but not at the expense of compelling flavors. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Drink now through 2013. 853 cases made.

Winery: Basel Cellars
Location: Walla Walla, WA
Wine: 2003 Claret
Region: Walla Walla Valley
Price: $24.00

Awards/Accolades:
Gold/Best of Class – 2006 West Coast Wine Competition

Industry Comments:
This Claret may be our best effort yet! It is dark ruby red, and has a penetrating nose of cassis, Christmas Spice, pomegranate, and ripe Bing Cherries. The mouthfeel is rich and dense. This Claret has flavors of blackberries, cherries, and an amazing finish of silky tannins that seems to last forever! This wine should drink well over the next five to seven years.

Winery: JM Cellars
Location: Woodinville, WA
Wine: 2003 Cuvee
Region: Columbia Valley
Price: $28.00

Awards/Accolades:
91 Points - Wine Spectator

Industry Comments:
Polished, ripe and broad in texture, not heavy but generous with its currant, blueberry and cream aromas and flavors, filling the mouth and lingering against the gentle texture of fine tanins.
