(Tuesday) - Wine Enthusiast - WA Best Buys
Wine Enthusiast Best Buys – Great Wines Under $15
(November 15th, 2007)
“Our editors’ selection of the most value-able players in the wine world.”
A couple Washington wines made the Best Buy list this year from Wine Enthusiast. There probably should have been more, but hey not everyone can grasp the quality that WA provides at a very fair price.
90 pts. – Gordon Brothers 2006 Chardonnay, Columbia Valley ($15)
87 pts. – Columbia Crest 2006 Grand Estates Sauvignon Blanc, Columbia Valley ($11)
A Special Bulletin from Paul Gregutt:
Pacific Northwest: Washington State, in particular, has many wineries producing value wines in significant quantities. White wines especially offer both quality and value. Rieslings, Sauvignon Blancs, Gewurztraminers and even Chardonnays, when made in a crisp, fruit- and acid-driven style, deliver impactful flavors. For value reds stick with Merlots and Cabernets.
